Books Alive paid paid partnership
Families are invited to get inspired at Southport Library and The Atkinson this October Half Term, as part of the Books Alive! Festival.
There will be a packed programme of fun events to explore throughout Southport town centre from 24th-31st October 2026.
As part of this, you will be able to meet the authors and illustrators behind your favourite books with Children’s Books North and the Festival of Stories.
On Thursday 29th October and Friday 30th October 2026, head to The Atkinson and meet celebrated children’s authors and illustrators across a series of inspiring author talks, draw-alongs and interactive sessions – hosted by CBeebies star and author Katy Ashworth.
Authors and illustrators will include:
Joseph Coelho – Former Children’s Laureate and Carnegie Medal winner Joseph Coelho shares his favourite poems and inspires young audiences to pick up a pen and write.
Kate Pankhurst – Celebrate 10 years of Fantastically Great Women and discover the incredible women who changed the world.
Lydia Monks – Hear about Lydia’s journey as an illustrator, enjoy live drawing and create your own picture inspired by The Tooth Fairy and the Crocodile.
Dapo Adeola – Join the award-winning illustrator of Super Goat Girl for drawing, laughter and a celebration of what makes you uniquely super.
Natalie Denny – Discover the Bee Squad through interactive storytelling, creative crafts and mini activist fun.
Ashley Thorpe – Step into a world of gods, myths and adventure, and learn how to create your own exciting characters and worlds.
All events are FREE, but advance booking is essential: Books Alive! Festival of Stories – The Atkinson
